SpaceKidets Guide to the Night Sky is a guide, with a difference.
Starting with familiarisation of the telescope and binoculars, where the reader is encouraged to calculate (from guidance) the focal length and magnification of their telescope.
We then start looking at what is needed to observe the night sky.
We also explore some of the technical terms used, like the Messier Catalogue, and how this came to be.
From then on, it is all about the night sky. Identifying key constellations from season to season. Identifying key objects in them and sketching them as you see them in the book.
At the end of the "workbook", the reader (or SpaceKidet) is expected to have a good knowledge of the night sky!

About the author
Alastair Leith, also the creator of SpaceKidets, has been an amateur astronomer since 1986. Captivated by Halley's Comet (a comet he never saw!) that was to leave a lifetime impression on him.
Sadly, while his maths or physics was never good enough to enable him to become a professional astronomer. Alastair nevertheless continued into the ICT and training field. Eventually merging his passion for training with a passion for astronomy.
The Online Astronomy Society Academy was born out of that and continued to pioneer GCSE Astronomy by distance learning.
Alastair saw there was a need to reach younger minds of the future, SpaceKidets was created. Now he works to develop more books in the SpaceKidets series.
When not stargazing, Alastair is a keen mountain biker, and enjoys spending time with his wife and children in Northampton.
